Midwinters Conference 2023

This past weekend, Asha Baddi (Co-Captain), Brody Schwartz (Co-Captain), and Abigail Paul (Sailing Development Chair) traveled to Indiana University to participate in the Midwinters Regatta draft. This serves as the annual meeting for the MCSA, where regattas for the upcoming season are drafted, the new MCSA Executive Board is elected, and awards are handed out.

This year, Abigail Paul was elected to be the 2023 MCSA Regatta Coordinator. As coordinator, she will be responsible for scheduling and organizing MCSA sailing competitions as well as for assisting regatta host schools if need be.

Each year, the MCSA surveys teams to determine the winner of the Regatta of the Year Award. We are excited to announce that Michigan Sailing’s Cary Price Memorial Regatta was the winner of the 2022 Regatta of the Year. We would like to thank our Co-Captain Asha for her hard work to make this happen. Asha served as the 2022 Sailing Development Chair for the team, and the 2022 Regatta Coordinator for the MSCA. Her hard work last year paid off, and we can’t thank her enough.

Billy Vogel was also recognized during the awards ceremony. His name now resides on the trophy recognizing the MCSA Men’s Singlehanded National Championship qualifier.
